A First Contact Practitioner is an exciting new role coming into Primary Care (GP surgeries) with funding available to GP’s to support this from April 2020.
This will allow patients contacting their GP surgeries with musculoskeletal pain to be seen quickly by a musculoskeletal expert who will be able to assess, advise and establish on the appropriate individualised rehabilitation programme. They will work very closely with GP’s and Nurse Practitioners to ensure the patient gets the best level of care and assist with any medication, investigations and referrals where deemed required.
Pure Physiotherapy has been working in this role for nearly four years now and is helping to develop this role on a local, regional and national level. A large number of our clinicians at Pure Physiotherapy are working in a First Contact Practitioner role providing a high level of care.
We are continuing to increase the number of GP surgeries and Primary Care networks that we are working alongside.
